Celebrate Good Times Come On!

June 26, 2008

We have decided to take a well deserved mini-vacation to St-Andrews by the sea for our 5th wedding anniversary this weekend!! Yay! We spent our honeymoon in St-Andrews, 5 years ago already! We had stayed at the Algonquin and had gotten a kick ass deal (The Honeymoon Suite, normally like 400$ a night, or 75$/night for the whole week!!) But this year, the Algonquin is not in our budget and I think that it was meant to be because I found something equally, if not even more exciting!

We are getting the “2 Night Getaway” at the Rossmount Inn!

  – Two night stay at the Inn based on double occupancy
  – Complimentary hors d’oeuvres
  – One three course dinner with choices from our a la carte menu
  – Full breakfast on both mornings

I was googling for stuff to do in St-Andrews; I want to do some of the stuff we already did like go whale watching on the Catamaran boat, and re-visit gorgeous Kingsbrae Gardens, but I also want to see and do new things. Anyway, while googling I stumbled upon a stranger’s blog, who wrote a 3 part series of entries about the Rossmount Inn in all it’s fabulousness! By the end of the 3rd entry I was totally convinced that it would be perfect! Here are the links if you want to check them out : Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

I am planning to have one indulgent meal. Hello, Le grand plateau de fromage artisanal! And maple creme brulee, pink grapefruit-campari sorbet, lavender gingersnap dessert, come to mama! But don’t worry, they have a scenic nature walking trail beside the Inn where we plan to go run some intervals, that will burn some calories off. I’m sure there are also other wedding anniversary activities that we could do to burn calories ;)

I’m SO excited!! Only 1.5 days to go before we leave for our mini vacation!!

Not Surprisingly…

You Are Totally Anal Retentive

Yup, you’re so uptight – people definitely have called you “anal.”

You’re the type of person who’s so OCD you organize your M&Ms before eating them.

You have so many rules and rituals, it’s hard for you to let loose and enjoy life.

So go ahead and mix up your alphabetized CD collection. Live a little!

Surprisingly…

You Are Low Maintenance

Otherwise known as “too good to be true”

You’re one laid back chica – and men love that!

Just remember that no good guy likes a doormat.

So if you find your self going along to get along…

Stop yourself and put up a little bit of a fight.

My poor neglected personal blog!

June 24, 2008

It’s been a while! 14 days to be exact. Half a month. It’s not intentional… it’s just that my lard-busting activities have completely taken over my life! I hate the first blog entry after a long pause. I have too much to say and not enough. I want to write everything and forget everything. The stories have gotten tangled together. So be prepared for a very hodgepodge blog entry.

Our 5th wedding anniversary is on Saturday! (June 28th) Already! We’re currently emailing back and forth : Ideas for a cheap wedding anniversary. Aka Wedding Anniversaries for the broke. I was dreaming of a swanky 5th wedding anniversary… But it might have to consist of a chicken breast & green salad, with eau de tap in wine glasses candlelight dinner. I still have to do some creative budgeting and look at my options. Did I mention that this is a long weekend ? Because of Canada day on Tuesday, we both took Monday off. 4 nice days off in a row! Maybe we’ll win the lotto tomorrow night and then be able to afford to go somewhere for our long wedding aniversary weekend :)

When Steph ordered my wedding anniversary present online, he didn’t expect it to be shipped overnight. He was so excited to give it to me, that two weeks ago he finally asked me if I wanted my gift early. Um, hell yeah! Who says no to that? Not me! We went to the basement where he had it hidden. He had this signature blue Tiffany box in his hand, and in typical Steph fashion, he rambled about the gift while all I could do was stare and nod hehe. He rambled about how he wasn’t sure if I’d like it, that we could go online and exchange it, that he had openned it to verify that it was in fact what he had ordered, but then couldn’t replicate the Tiffany signature silk bow, so he had to google for instructions and spend a whole lunch hour re-doing the bow! lol! That’s Steph. He rambles :) So I finally grabbed it from his hand and opened it and it was a set of pretty heart shaped earrings. They are so heavy for their size. It took me a whole day to get used to them hehe.

I must have been born without the running gene. One of my biggest fitness goals is to become a runner. I want to be able to continuously run for however long a mediocre runner runs, at the very least. Since the start of the Smartest Loser, it seems like everyone else is improving their speed & distance by leaps and bounds while I still struggle to run for a continuous minute.

If I won the lotto Wednesday night, where would I go on vacation ? Hmmm, New York City this long weekend, Toronto in August, and a European cruise in September. For now. I must have been a messenger pigeon in a former life.

In 6 days, I’ll have been smoke free for 6 months! I’m proud of myself and surprised that I lasted this long.. but I’m even more surprised at how many cravings I still have, and how easily I’d light up if it weren’t for Steph who dislikes my smoking.

As of this morning, I’m 106.6lbs down. My goal is to lose 40lbs by New Years Eve. That’s an average of 1.5 lbs a week. Totally do-able. This would bring me at 199lbs. Onderland!

And we had fun fun fun ’till the Hertz took the Mustang away-ay-ay-ay!

June 10, 2008

Like sands through the hourglass… so are the days of our lives. Time fah-reakin’ flies! A Whirlwind! I don’t even have time to watch Days of our Lives anymore! I haven’t seen an episode in months. I don’t even have the time to procrastinate anymore! That’s a real tragedy.

Sooooo Where to begin… Friday? Okay. We had a great workout at the Rotary Park, which you can read about on the other blog. Then, we came home and… I can’t remember for the life of me what we did. I might have had strawberries while watching a movie, or I might have cleaned. OH, maybe I did both. Geez. Maybe I should blog more often, for when I totally lose my mind. Saturday morning  my parents rolled in town. It was a gorgeous day, and we worked in the yard aaaaaaaaaaaaalll day! I even got a blister on my foot from all the walking around! We got 60 bags of soil, some manure, some peat, and filled our garden, which is now ready for planting. We used some of the soil to plant the other stuff we had to plant, but yeah, we kinda went overboard with the soil. There’s like 15 bags leftover hehe.

We moved some shrubs around in my front beds, because they were too crowded. I moved my snowball bush right on the lawn, since it’s balls are so heavy when they’re fully balled, that they need the room to weep. I also bought and planted a Weeping Pussy Willow tree and a Pink Crabapple tree in the snowball bush area. I plan to develop something there with more flowers next year. Or maybe even later this year. Who knew gardenning was so addictive ?

We re-arranged the fountain area and made the fountain work again. We did the clay pots arrangements all around it, with beautiful begonias and petunias and I don’t know whattas all around it. It’s so pretty :) Planted another pussy willow tree  near my bistro set, and planted two sandcherrys in big pots on my back deck… with a big hibiscus in a big pot on my deck too… I told my mom that I love Willows so much, I should name my future kid Willow. Willow and Melody.. yep I’m a hippie at heart. I’ll take some pictures of the finished stuff sometime… but in the  meantime you’re all invited to come see it in person. I discovered this weekend that my  husband makes some mean, delicious, pork/veggie kabobs on the BBQ! Yum!!

Oh yeah.. I was going to hit ‘publish’ and when I re-read the title it reminded me that I forgot to mention what that’s all about hehe. So my parents left at 1pm on Sunday. Then  Steph convinced me to pack all my crap in a hurry and pack it in the car, and go catch a movie (Zohan; stupid but funny. It hit the spot.) before I had to meet Judy at 6pm to drive up together to Fredericton for some very early Monday  morning training. Well when she got to Hertz, they didn’t have any mid-size available, so they offered her a free upgrade – a mini-van. Well Judy refuses to drive big trucks/SUVS/Vans in town in case we have to parallel park or something. So they said alright, what about that silver convertible Mustang over there? Hell yeah!! We came back from Fredericton yesterday afternoon with the top down and our hair flying crazily in the wind! It was so much fun! It was gorgeous and sunny. My hair was a crazy tangled mess last night and we are both sunburnt today, but oh well. It was fun hehe.

Weekend Update, SATC Movie Review, and Random Blather

June 3, 2008

Heeeey! You know what? I’m having the time of my life with the Smartest Loser. I really am. And in the process, I keep forgetting that I should also keep writing on this blog because not everyone reads the Smartest Loser one :) So I apologize for completely forgetting to post the big news on the big day that it happened, but :

I’M FINALLY DOWN A HUNDRED POUNDS!!!!  (Well, since you’re getting the news late, it’s actually -101lbs now hehe.) I’m halfway there :) Woot! I know I can do it now. By ‘it’, I don’t mean look like Jessica Alba, but I mean look ‘normal’. I started at 347.6lbs on January 2007. I’m 246.5lbs this morning. And my goal is to be 199lbs by New Years. I can’t even imagine being 199lbs. I can’t. The last time I was in the 100’s, I was a child. In like the 3rd grade. So that was the big news…

At first, I said that I liked the SATC movie, but that I didn’t love it. Now, I’m dying to see it again, because I think that one of the things that made me not love it, was the fact that the theatre was packed, and that every 2 minutes the whole crowd would laugh and clap and we’d miss a few seconds of dialogue. It was sooo annoying. Plus, some people were laughing during the sad parts. Annoying too. And the 2 guys that sat behind us tryign to pick up? Very annoying. So I definitely want to go see it again. Probably this weekend, a matinee :)

(Don’t worry, it wasn’t real alcohol for me! It was diet 7up, which I know, I know, isn’t the best choice… but it was better than alcohol, at the time hehe.)

Friday, Steph and I declared that once we got home, we weren’t to set foot outside the driveway for the whole weekend, in an effort to save money. By Saturday evening we had had enough of that and we went to see the new Indianna Jones movie. It was good. I’m not a die hard fan though, I had only see “The Temple of Doom” previously. Sunday, we decided to go buy cement blocks to make a raised vegetable garden. Yeah, that’s how we conserve money around here. Pfft! hehe We had to make two trips to Home Hardware, and it was closing at 5pm, so we’ll have to go back this week for soil and manure and finish it this weekend. I can’t wait!!

Might as well keep braggin’ and post another pic. My fake Tiffany necklace looks totally tarnished on taht pic, but it isn’t in real life. weird huh?
