Another Letter

April 24, 2008

So remember Heather’s Blog Challenge #27, about writing someone a letter ? Well, I never gave you guys an update, but the anonymous recipient actually figured out that I was talking to her. I was embarrassed as hell. Then she told me that she had no idea I had talked behind her back. Ah well, it was weighing heavily on my shoulders and at least now we’re all good. The next time we saw each other face to face she jokingly called me a bitch and then everything was back to normal. Except that I’m experiencing uberPMS again and I nearly cried in front of her yesterday. But I’ve learned my lesson about PMS-induced cattiness.

SO, all that to say that my letter worked so well, that I wanted to write another letter today. This time, it won’t be anonymous.

Dear Mother Nature,

I heard on the radio this morning that they’re calling for 5 cm of snow this afternoong and evening. Are you out of your fucking mind?

That’s all.

Sincerely,
Fucking Tired of Winter Nancy.

You know I was being silly right ? I love seeing your children’s photos on Facebook, and I love seeing your travel photos too. But I’m still jealous of the travel photos hehe

In the market for loser friends

April 22, 2008

Are you someone who rarely goes away on vacation, has no beautiful kids to photograph, haven’t been photographed with celebrities, and don’t have a mcmansion to photograph ? Wanna be Facebook friends?

I hope Facebook plans to implement a free “How to not get jealous of ALL the people you’ve ever met in your life (or so it seems!) posting beautiful pictures of their paradise vacation on Facebook” !

At least the good thing is : I almost don’t need to go for a vacation in a hot resort somewhere because I already feel as if I’ve been there looking at those zillion beautiful photos my friends posted on Facebook.  :)

Weekend Update!

April 21, 2008

What a gorgeous weekend!! Just so you know, I’m typing this really really fast because it’s almost time to go get ready for my noon walk. So forgive me if I’m all over the place etc. :D

It was an awesome weekend. We made a decision : We decided that Sprummer is here! It was sooo nice and sunny and warmish, that we decided to bring the patio set and BBQ out of hibernation and had a good ole pyjamas BBQ Sunday for lunch! (As you can see, Brian didn’t get the memo about the pyjamas rule :P )

Loki was being a snob, sorry for the doggy butt! LOL And as you will surely notice the big pile of hamburgers, I would like to assure you that I only had 1/2 cup of lean ground beef, 1 slice of cheese, and 1 whole wheat bun. However, I cannot say the same for the guys who each had 3 burgers!! We had some good salad too and diet pop. No mosquitoes!! Sprummer rocks!!

After our feast, we washed our cars and raked the front yard. There was about 42 pounds of dog poop on the lawn, and a zillion pounds of dirt that the city dumped on our lawn after unclogging the drain next to our land. Nice. Not. Bastards.

Saturday was productive too : I cleaned for about 5 hours straight! I took everything out of the living room, couch and all, to scrub the floors properly. They kinda still don’t look that great because a certain dog has scratched them all to hell by running and spinning and dropping a massive bone repeatedly on the floor. I cleaned cleaned cleaned and Sunday I was going to relax, but the weather was SO nice that it would have been a sin to not work on the front yard. (The back yard is still under 2 feet of snow :-s) Anyways, I have to go get ready for my walk, talk to you all later! Happy Sprummer, and Happy Monday!!

OH and guess what ? I just got an email from my boss telling me that they’re renewing my contract for another year (I was only replacing a mat leave for a duration of 6 months… 6 YEARS ago!! hah) AND get this… I get a RAISE!! A RAISE!! My first real raise in 6 years!! Effective mid-June!! WOOHOO!!!! *Snoopy Dance*

Boots with the Fur!

April 18, 2008

Shawty had them Apple Bottom Jeans [Jeans]
Boots with the fur [With the fur]
The whole club was lookin at her
She hit the flo [She hit the flo]
Next thing you know
Shawty got low low low low low low low low

That’s my song of the moment. I LOVE it! It’s awesome on my workout playlist, and it’s also awesome playing for no apparent reason in my house while I proceed to scare Steph and Loki with my lame dance skills haha.

Did I tell you that I’ve managed to drag Steph out for a daily walk with the dog, when we get home from work? We went everyday for two weeks except for last Friday night, because I barely had time to change before I had to go back in town to meet Guylaine at Mexi’s. Last night, it was the first time that it was warm enough that we decided to forego coats. When we got to the point where we usually turn around.. I noticed the dog started to walk faster, in quick short steps. Oh.No…. the poop bags are in my coat, at home!! HOLD IT IN LOKI!!! All three of us started to run toward the house; We must have been a funny sight hehe. Steph was holding his jogging pants up, I was running and saying ‘hold it innnnnnnnnn!’ At some point I realized that there was no way poor Loki would be able to hold it in. He was walking faster and faster, starting to sniff for a spot while trying to run.. finally he squatted and I said Nooo!! And I tried to concinve him to run mid-poop but he wasn’t impressed haha. Poor Loki. So Steph and Loki stayed at the poop scene while I speed walked home to get a bag and walked back to the scene of the crime. At least I got a good walk out of it hehe.

There’s only 2 weeks left to gather donations for the Smartest Loser. I’m starting to panic. In a week, if I don’t have more donations, I’m thinking of selling our 42″ Plasma TV at a good deal. I don’t care, we’ll buy another one when we’re skinny hehe. Then worst comest to worst… I’ll try to get a quicky loan. But that’s really my last option, we’re really already way too trapped in our past debt/mistakes (and their current payments) to take on any new payments.

This weekend, I’m bringing the BBQ out of hibernation and bringing the patio set on the deck too. I really really hope the snow is gone till next winter! It really feels like it is though :) I can’ twait for my yard to be free of snow so that I can start playing in the dirt!

I still have 9 pounds to lose from the weight I put on during the holidays. Can you believe it?? I am really starting to think that weight that you re-gain is SO much harder to take off for some reason! I’m taking the bull by the horns though and since April 3rd, I’ve been exercising 2 times a day, 5 days a week. Take that in the nuts, fat!

My hair grew like an inch, I noticed, and I’m liking it. I don’t care what anyone says, I don’t care if my hair is too thin to be, I just feel girlier with longer hair. And by longer I mean when it touches my shoulders. Which it doesn’t, yet. Also, when my hair is at least shoulder lenght, I can wash and go. When it’s this lenght or shorter, I can’t leave the house without putting some hot iron in it, flat or curly. (Otherwise it’s just a frizzy mess.)

Can you tell that I don’t really have anything in particular to talk about? I guess I should sign out before I bore you all to death :) Have a great weekend!!

OH PS – Did you notice the two new features on this blog? Cravings & Confessions. I figure that if I keep track of my crazy cravings, maybe I’ll make some sense out of them hehe. Maybe I just need to learn to incorporate all different flavours in my daily diet instead of eating one particular taste until I’m sick of it? Right now, I’m totally obsessed with regular hummus and roasted red pepper hummus. I LOVE HUMMUS. I want to mary hummus and have chick pea kids. Okay is it 4h30pm yet ?

Weekend Update!

April 15, 2008

I’m a slaker blogger lately. I’m making you wait until Tuesday to update you on my fabulous weekend, how can you stand it? :P You know I’m just teasing, I absolutely adore that some of you care so much that you email or send me a message to tell me to get bloggin’! hehe. It makes me feel special.. short bus special :P

So… Friday night, Guylaine and I went out for dinner at Mexicali Rosa. I am glad to report that I DID stick to my plan: I had a salad and a diet coke! AND, I’m thrilled to report that the salad was not disgusting! In fact, it was absolutely delicious. It was the “Mexicali Rosa Salad with chicken and avocado dressing”, it comes in a shell bowl but I didn’t eat that. And I am thrilled that it was that good. It gives me a great healthy option for downtown. How many sentences can I start with “And” ? Anyway, I didn’t feel deprived at all. I savoured each bite and I can’t wait to go have it again.

After dinner we walked downtown a little to kill a few minutes, then Annick met up with us at the Capitol Theatre. I saw all kinds of people that I hadn’t seen in forever. At some point it hit me that “This is a french show… we’re ALL french speaking people in here! Woah”. Yeah, I’m easily amused like that hehe. The show was pretty darn funny.. although I have to say that I’m way more like a dry/sarcastic humour type of person. I still have a great sense of humour, but give me a hilarious sarcastic comment over a fart/midget/gay/fat/sex joke any day! When the show was over we walked over to St. James Gate… well I can now say that I’ve been to St.James Gate twice… the first time Iw as in there for about 10 seconds. I broke my record, I think we stayed 35 seconds. Uber Crowded. We decided to go to the Navigators instead, but when we walked in front of the Capitol we saw Peter MacLeod signing autographs!! Here’s the proof… I think I look absolutely horrible on this. Steph thinks I was caught mid-laugh and others have said it’s a good picture. Maybe it’s a good thing that I seem to have reverse body dismorphic disorder; I look way better in a mirror, I swear! :P

So we went to Navigators and found out that if you’re the designated driver you get free pop or water. Awesome. I wasn’t really the designated driver, I was just the only one not drinking. But who cares, I got free (diet) pop haha. Hayat met with us and the four of us talked about everything from testicules to periodes, to cleavage to TV hunks. A true girls night out. We attracted a bunch of flirty men. At 1am I went home and that was enough bar scene for me for at least a month  hehe.

Saturday we went to blockbuster and rented 2 movies (Enchanged & Dan in Real Life) and 2 games (The Simpsons & Mario Party 8 both for the wii). Fuck Blockbuster is expensive now. We got convinced to renew our member thingy thing, and bought 2 pops and.. popcorn I think ? 55$ !! Frig, we could have bought a game or bought 2 movies for that amount! Don’t even get me started on their ‘no late fee’ fees. While we were watching Dan in Real Life, my aunt Jeanne D’arc, that I hadn’t talked to in at least 2-3 years, calls. I screened and decided to listen to the voice mail first, since we were mid-movie and all. (Okay, you really all know how phone phobic I am.) Well her message was disturbing. Very short and weird voice.. trembling voice.. emotional.. I was TERRIFIED to call her back, I was SURE that someone had died. What if it’s my father and my mother is too upset to call me ? What if my mother is dead and she’s calling me ? What if my uncle Donald, Laurier or my godfather Roland died? OMG… well I learned that nigth that I definitely need to prepare myself for such an eventuality, because I was absolutely freaking out. Every time I’d pick up the phone and start to dial, I’d get teary and hang up. When I went to think and have an IBS attack in the bathroom, the phone rang again, steph picked up, and it was mom. 1 – Phew, she’s not dead 2 – OMG everyone’s calling, someone MUST have died!

It was easier for me to call back mom first. Phew, no one died. My uncle Robert had called from Alberta (where he lives), and he had just gotten off work, and someone had told him that in the Edmonton sun, someone was claiming to be looking for their long lost father, Robert R.! (My uncle’s name, and he has a long lost daughter that he hasn’t seen in 10 years since his wife and him divorced and that she moved away with the kid.) My uncle was crying so hard that no one could understand him apparently. So I called back my aunt J and the reason that she had called me was to ask : Do you get the Edmonton Sun in Moncton ? er.. no hehe. Wrong province. But I am a pretty darn good googler, so I googled and googled until I found the actual letter to the editor in the Edmonton Sun. (4th letter down) Wow! It has to be her, it can’t just be a concidence.. the time frame is right, and that’s her name. Angeline was my grandmother and Alynn (Aline) is my mother’s name.

So I had a great idea… Facebook!!! I searched on Facebook, and lo and behold, I found a group that she had created called “Looking for my father Robert R. etc”. Woah. Insanity… We were SO excited and emotional… my cousin sent me a picture of my uncle with her daughter when she was 7 years old.. and we posted it in the group and said ‘Is this you?’ It’s her… CRAZY!!  So they were reunited (by phone.. he’s in Edmonton and she’s in Winnipeg) Sunday night!! I have been in communication with a reporter from the Edmonton Sun who is writing a happy story about this and will send me hard copies in the mail!

It’s so weird.. Saturday afternoon, before I even got those calls and all the insanity started, I was lying in my bed (trying to take a nap) and started thinking about my uncle Robert out of the blue, which I hadn’t seen in like 12 years… so weird..

Anyway.. I feel like I’m leaving out many many details, it’s such a cool happy story.. but it’s 15 minutes to noon and I have to go get ready for my noon power-walk!

The boss is gone, time for a quickie!

April 11, 2008

Well, our director has been in the office for the past two days. Phew being on our best behavior is exhausting LOL. TGIF!! The weekend will arrive promptly in 14 minutes and I couldn’t be more thrilled! It’s a gorgeous sunny spring day, I had an awesome walk at noon with Wyclef, Eddie and Otis… Yeah, that’s right, I finally learned how the heck to use my mp3 player I got last summer! LOL And by learned, I mean Steph had to show me :P

13 mins. I hate deadlines. It makes me incoherent. So I apologize in advance for this post; it will most likely suck. But it’s an update :)

So tonight is girls night : Dinner at Mexicali Rosa with Guylaine (I declare publically that I will not cheat on my diet, I’m going to have a salad and a diet coke. There, I said it. I can’t cheat now hehe.) Then we’re going to the Capitol Theatre where Annick will join us to see Quebec comedian Peter McLeod perform. We’ll finish the night at either St-James Gate or Old Triangle where I again publically declare that I will only have water. Not only do I not want to drink calories but I’m also driving. It’s funny how overindulging is just as dangerous as drinking and driving, but where there’s a change I might hurt someone else I won’t do it. I won’t even have 1 drink and drive, ever. Not even a whiff. But bring on the big macs. Oh yeah.. and one is illegal hehe.

7 minutes. Or less. We’re going to add to our www.nancyandsteph.com blog this weekend most likely, so be sure to subscribe to RSS feeds :) THANK YOU with all my heart to my first (and only so far) two donations : Emily and Jenn! When I got my first donation, I cried at my desk. I can’t believe that people are actually willing to help us change our lives. It means so much to me.

5 minutes.. ah screw it. I call Weekend!! Have a good one :)

It’s Ready!

Wacky and Clumsy

April 9, 2008

That’s me. Wacky : When I came back from my walk at lunch, I picked up my cell phone charger from the floor under my desk and tried to plug in my apple! (As in, Granny Smith. Not the High Tech kind..) Clumsy : I just answered the phone and whacked myself really really hard on the cheek bone with the receiver! You’d think that I know where my head is after 28 years of it being exactly in this same spot…
